No Kings - Nationwide Day of Defiance
Saturday June 14th - 11am to 1pm
West side of Route 31, north of McCullom Lake Road.
Set your GPS to McCullom Lake Rd & State Rte 31.
Sponsored by Indivisible McHenry County.
We’re on the west side because that’s where the sidewalk is – but no parking. All the parking – acres of it – is on the east side, in the huge lot behind the McDonalds on the NE corner. Be sure to cross at the crosswalk. People who are mobility challenged may be dropped off at the Casey’s gas station on the NW corner.
Sunday June 15th – 11am – March with us in Woodstock Pride
Marching in Woodstock Pride is my personal favorite Democratic activity – join us please if you possibly can. A more sympatico group you will not find.
The parade steps off at 11:00 am from the assembly area on Forest Avenue by the Dean Street Elementary School, about half a mile south of the square. Look for our float. We’ll be there for setup by about 9. Wear your best Pride regalia.
Please RSVP if you can march with us, it’s important we have a crowd and a good time is guaranteed. And be sure to visit our booth – we’re #63 on the south side of the square, along Van Buren Street and not far from the stage. And if you’d like to help staff our booth, sign up for one of the 2-hour shifts.
And more stuff coming up:
3:00 pm Saturday June 21st – McHenry County’s second annual Juneteenth, a Celebration of Freedom and Community. Moved indoors this year to The Center for the Arts, Music, Culture and Movement at 1690 South Eastwood Drive in Woodstock. Truly not to be missed. RSVP via EventBrite.
6:00 pm on Saturday June 28th - Suzanne Ness’s “Join The Party” fundraiser, sure to be the shindig of the month, at least. At Emmett's Brewing Company, 128 West Main Street, West Dundee.
Noon on Sunday June 29th – Fiesta Latina con Amin – a celebration of Latin American culture and a dialog with Democratic candidate for county treasurer Amin Karim. At Emricson Park’s Main Pavilion, 1313 Kishwaukee Valley Road, Woodstock.
Noon on Sunday July 6th – March with us in the Crystal Lake Independence Day Parade – always a grand and important time. Put it on your calendar, and please RSVP.
Thanks so much for all you do, yours for the preservation of our democracy, and hope you can make it either or both events this weekend.
